FRAUDULENT EMAIL

Fake email messages sent to you for the purpose of stealing personal and financial information (phishing) are among the most common types of email fraud. Disguised as legitimate email and claiming to be from sources you trust, these messages attempt to entice you to provide various types of personal and confidential information, such as online ID's and passcodes, Social Security numbers, and bank account numbers.

Peoples National Bank of Kewanee would like to remind our customers and non-customers that we will NEVER send any email requesting sensitive information. If you receive an unsolicited email that looks like it is from us and is requesting confidential information, please let us know immediately.

COMPUTER SAFETY AND SECURITY

Peoples National Bank of Kewanee would like to take this opportunity to remind our customers about the importance of having current Anti-Virus/Internet Security software and Microsoft critical security patches for Windows Operating Systems. Anti-Virus/Internet Security updates should be set to download and install at least daily, and you should schedule a complete system scan of all files at least weekly. If you are using Windows, you should also automatically download and install all critical Microsoft security patches as soon as they are available. In today’s interconnected world, it is extremely important to be proactive when it comes to computer safety and security. These simple actions will help prevent damage to your computer or loss of your confidential information when using the internet.
